ARE Energy Access Investment Forum (EAIF 2024)

AMP @ EAIF2024

The Alliance for Rural Electrification Energy Access Investment Forum (#EAIF2024), taking place in Lagos, Nigeria, from May 21-23, is a global flagship event that brings up to 1,500 in-person and virtual delegates in the renewable electrification sector, including private and public investors, industry and invited government officials. The aim is to foster business and investor partnerships for sustainable electricity access, decarbonization, economic growth, and the fight against climate change.

The Africa Minigrids Program (AMP) will be well represented on the ground. The team will be in for a week of in-depth exchanges, networking and forging strategic partnerships, as well as facilitating workshop sessions focused on problem-solving and knowledge-sharing. Specifically, AMP will engage with experts to discuss the political framework conditions for investments in the Decentralized Renewable Energy (DRE) sector needed to scale rural electrification by deploying minigrids at the speed and scale required to meet energy transition and SDG7 goals by 2030.

AMP will also leverage this moment to bring our Community of Practice (CoP) together to exchange ideas and share best practices for managing their national projects. The CoP is a group of practitioners overseeing national projects, most of whom will meet in person for the first time. The goal is to accelerate the development of skills and know-how related to minigrid adoption by helping build a network of peers and figure out what to do, how to do it, and who to turn to for support.
