The World Bank in partnership with the African Development Bank Group has announced plans to provide at least 300 million people across Africa with electricity access by 2030. The ambitious project will require about $30 billion in public sector investment, which the International Development Association (IDA) will play a critical role in securing.
Expectations are also set for governments to align through placing policies that attract private investment, and to reform their utilities so they are financially sound and efficient with tariff mechanisms.
