According to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), the East African country has deployed a significant share of Africa’s minigrids.
The EU-funded Green Mini-Grid (GMG) Facility Programme, which consists of 33 locations and is primarily solar PV-based, was recently evaluated by the International Labour Organization for its effects on employment.
While Kenya is not currently part of the target AMP countries, the country has proven to be a leader in distributed renewable energy (DRE) and can be a beacon and inspiration for other African nations.
